The Canon EF 14mm f/2.8L II USM is a professional ultra-wide-angle prime lens designed for full-frame Canon DSLR cameras.
Launched as a major update to its predecessor, it features a completely redesigned optical path to provide a massive 114° field of view with minimal rectilinear distortion.
Key Features
- Optics: 14 elements in 11 groups, including two high-precision Aspherical elements and two UD (Ultra-low Dispersion) glass elements. These are designed to minimise chromatic aberrations and ensure high corner-to-corner sharpness.
- Aperture: A fast maximum aperture of f/2.8, ideal for low-light photography and astrophotography. It uses a 6-blade circular diaphragm for smooth background blur.
- Focusing: Features a ring-type Ultrasonic Motor (USM) for fast, near-silent autofocus with full-time manual focus override.
- Build: Part of the professional L-series, it is dust and moisture-resistant. It has a built-in petal-type lens hood to protect its bulbous front element.
- Filters: Due to the convex front element, standard screw-in filters cannot be used.
- Physical: Weighs approximately 645g and has dimensions of 80 x 94mm.
