Item Description

The Nikon D5100 is a 16.2MP APS-C DSLR camera that is compatible with Nikon FX & DX mount lenses.

Please Note: This camera lacks an in-body autofocus motor, meaning it can only autofocus with lenses that have a built-in motor (AF-S or AF-I designation).

The camera is aimed at beginner to enthusiast photographers. It features a versatile vari-angle 3-inch LCD monitor, Full HD 1080p video recording, and a wide ISO range for good low-light performance.

Key Features

  • Sensor: 16.2-megapixel DX-format (APS-C) CMOS sensor, the same one used in the more advanced Nikon D7000, which delivers excellent image quality and dynamic range.
  • Image Processor: EXPEED 2 image processing engine.
  • ISO Range: Standard ISO range of 100-6400, expandable up to 25,600 (Hi 2 equivalent), allowing for shooting in a variety of lighting conditions.
  • Autofocus: 11-point AF system with 3D tracking, providing flexibility in composition.
  • Display: A side-hinged, vari-angle 3.0-inch LCD monitor with 921k-dots, which facilitates shooting from different angles and self-portraits.
  • Video: Full HD (1920x1080p) video recording at 24, 25, or 30 frames per second with full-time autofocus capability and a 3.5mm input jack for an external stereo microphone.
  • Continuous Shooting: Up to 4 frames per second burst rate.
  • Special Effects & HDR: The first Nikon DSLR to feature a Special Effects mode (including Night Vision, Miniature Effect, Selective Colour, etc.) for both stills and movies, as well as an in-camera High Dynamic Range (HDR) mode for managing high-contrast scenes.
  • Lens Mount: Nikon F-mount, but it lacks an in-body autofocus motor, meaning it can only autofocus with lenses that have a built-in motor (AF-S or AF-I designation).
