Key Features
- Retractable Barrel Design: To make transportation easy, the lens features a locking, collapsible design. When you are not shooting, you twist and retract the barrel, shrinking it to just under 20cm in length so it fits neatly into standard camera bags. You must extend and lock the barrel into place before your camera will allow you to take a picture.
- Diffractive Optics (DO): Canon utilises gapless dual-layer Diffractive Optics instead of standard, heavy glass elements. This specialised design keeps the physical weight under a kilogram while effectively correcting chromatic aberrations and colour fringing.
- Control Ring and Switches: The lens barrel includes a customisable Lens Control Ring that lets you directly adjust exposure settings like ISO or exposure compensation. It also features dedicated physical switches for turning Image Stabilisation on/off and a Focus Limiter switch to speed up autofocusing for distant subjects.
